Bánh Mì A Week
I started writing this late at night and my first inclination was to tell this story in greater detail than it probably warrants:
When I was in fourth grade, the 90 fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students at my (tiny, private, ultra-liberal, Montessori) school wrote and performed a play about The Millenium (Y2K was fast approaching) that included a scene in which a little blonde Jewish girl from Minneapolis portrayed The Earl of Sandwich. (The scene was about the invention of sandwiches. In another scene I dressed up as Leonardo DaVinci - I think this involved wearing a billowy white Chico’s blouse that belonged to my mom - and explained to the audience how I had come to invent the contact lens.)
That’s the abridged version, and it does little to convey my point, which is basically just that I love sandwiches. As such, I have come up with a personal project for 2012. I am going to eat a different bánh mì every week, and keep track/write about all of them on this blog. Week one is coming up soon.
