A Jewish deli called DGS opened in DC a few months ago. I was really excited about it after hearing the chef talk about Passover menus on NPR. I insisted we order takeout from DGS while wrapping a TV pilot in DC during Passover. I had borscht and potato latkes - they were pretty good. A few weeks later I went to the actual restaurant with my Aunt Lisa for an impromptu lunch. I had a lamb knish and a smoked salmon pastrami sandwich. The food isn’t bad, and I’m happy DGS is in DC, but it’s not a real Jewish deli that smells like your grandma’s kitchen. That’s all I really want.
